James B. Dunn

Narrative: James B. Dunn, of Lead, South Dakota, has had several years of experience in government and public affairs. With over 30years of service as a State Senator from South Dakota, Mr. Dunn oversees mining operations and the refining of gold and silver for the State. Currently, he also serves as Director of Public Affairs. During his career, he has served on various State committees including Vice Chairman, State Affairs Committee, Vice Chairman and Chairman, Health and Welfare and Chairman, Senate Agricultural and Natural Resources Committee. Mr. Dunn received a Presidential Appointment as a U.S. Selective Service Board Member and other honors and awards including the Friend of Law Enforcement Award from the South Dakota Peace Officers Association, Distinguished Contribution to the Preservation of South Dakota History Award from Dakota State College, Outstanding Black Hills State Alumnus Award from Black Hills State University, a Citation for Distinguished Service from the Masonic Lodge and was nominated to the Deadwood Hall of Fame in 2005. He has published several books, articles and artwork photography. He gives presentations both locally and nationally. Mr. Dunn received a B.S. in Business Administration and Economics from Black Hills State College in 1962. He is a member of the Society of Black Hills Pioneers and the Black Hills Badlands and Lakes Association. He lives in Lead, South Dakota, where he enjoys hunting and fishing.
