Mrs. Harper, a retired teacher, has more than 36 years of experience educating children at the second grade, middle school and high school levels. Most of her career was spent teaching middle school where she enjoyed preparing students for the future. Mrs. Harper feels that preparing children for a bright future is one of the most rewarding experiences one can have. She received several outstanding teaching awards during her career from the Chinle Public Schools, as well as from Navajo leaders in Arizona. She received her B.S. Degree in Home Economics and English from Northeastern State University in 1956 and attended Connors State College, Warner, Oklahoma, Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University, where she received her Master’s Equivalency Degree. She shared a love of teaching with her husband, Joseph, who passed away in November of 2004. They taught at the same school for over three decades. Mrs. Harper is survived by her two children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. |
