André Laperriere

Narrative: Mr. André Laperrière joined the Global Environment Facility in February 2011 as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in Washington D.C. It is the largest public fund supporting initiatives in biodiversity, climate change, international waters, land degradation, the ozone layer and persistent organic pollutants worldwide. Mr. Laperrière oversees the management of the GEF Secretariat and complements the CEO in its relations with the GEF’s 182 Member States and civil society partners. Born in Canada, he completed graduate studies in Administration and Industrial Relations. For the last 27 years, Mr. Laperrière has managed large international projects for Private Corporations and the United Nations in the Americas, Caribbean, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Among other positions he was the first Executive Director of the Trust Fund for Victims at the ICC, Director of the Administration and Finance Division in WHO and Coordinator for all reconstruction and rehabilitation activities under the responsibility of UNICEF in Iraq. Mr. Laperrière held positions in Ethiopia, Guinea, Gabon and Haiti. Formerly, he was Director in the International Services of Price Waterhouse. He is a regular speaker in various forums in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. He is married and has two children. In his spare time he enjoys family activities, reading, long walks, attending the cinema and fine dining.
