| Career Accomplishments: |
Mr. Darien was the youngest executive in the history of the company during his tenure. He was a pioneer in integrating business strategy, organizational processes and human resource plans. He revitalized the college recruiting program and revamped employee relations, diversity and labor relations approaches. Mr. Darien implemented one of the industries' first flexible benefits programs, on-line Human Resource information systems, smoke free work environments and relaxed dress codes. He was selected in 1984 by Merck's Chairman to lead a team of executives as part of the Grace Commission, President Reagan's Private Sector Task Force, to improve the efficiency of the Federal Government. |
