Mr. Jones worked as a Tax and ERISA Associate with the firm of Phillips, Lytle, Hitchcock, Blaine & Huber from 1984 to 1986 and a Tax Associate with Mayer, Brown & Platt from 1987 to 1990. He became a Partner with Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw specializing in Tax Controversy Practice from 1991 to 2005. Mr. Jones has been a Partner with Latham & Watkins, LLP since 2005, again specializing in Tax Controversy Practice. He was also an Adjunct Professor with the Chicago-Kent College of Law from 1994 to 1999. |

Mr. Jones is a frequent speaker at seminars, symposia and conferences on varied tax topics. He has been an Editor at The International Trade and Business Law Annual since 1999. In addition, he has been a member of the Dean's Advisory Council with the John Lord O'Brien Law School of SUNY at Buffalo since 1999. Mr. Jones has litigated more than 50 Federal and State tax cases at the trial and appellate levels including Tribune Co. v. Commissioner, The Limited, Inc. v. Commissioner, Nestlé Holdings, Inc. v. Commissioner, Tele-Communications, Inc. v. Commissioner and Westreco, Inc. v. Commissioner. Mr. Jones has extensive experience with IRS administrative proceedings. |
