Dr. VanderLaan began his career with an Anatomic and Mematopathologic Special Clerkship at Henry Ford Hospital in 1980. In 1982, he continued his career with a Special Internal Medicine Clerkship at Guy's Hospital in London, England. From 1984 to 1985, Dr. VanderLaan served as Chief Medical Resident at St. Mary's Hospital and as Medical Director of Blodgett Memorial Medical Center's Weight Loss Clinic. In addition, he was a Coordinator for the Internal Medicine Residency Program from 1987 to 1990, a Liaison for Clinical Research from 1991 to 1995, Medical Director of the Blodgett Preventative Cardiology and Rehabilitation Program from 1993 to 1998, Chief of Staff Elect from 1997 to 1999, all at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center. From 1987 to 1991, he worked with Grand Valley Internal Medicine Specialists and served as Assistant Clinical Professor at Michigan State University from 1987 to 2006, President of Spectrum Health Medical Staff from 1999 to 2000 and was a member of Spectrum's Health Board of Trustees from 1998 to 2000 as well. In addition, Dr. VanderLaan served as an Associate Professor with the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology, Michigan State University, from 2005 to 2006. He was also the Founding Cardiologist of Grand Rapids Cardiology, PLLC. |
