Work History: Mr. Day began his career as a Public Works Officer with the Civil Engineer Corps, U.S.N.R.. He was a Field Superintendent for Raymond Concrete Pile Company from 1946 to 1948 and served as an Associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Illinois from 1948 to 1958. He transferred to the University of Denver, serving as a Professor of Civil Engineering from 1958 to 1974. While there, he served as Dean of the College of Engineering from 1960 to 1968 in addition to teaching and performing research. Mr. Day then served as a Senior Staff Engineer with Stearns Roger, Inc. from 1974 to 1978 working on foundation designs for the Pawnee Power Plant in Brush, Colorado. Next he served as a Project Engineer for Raw Water Intake Systems with the Antelope Valley Power Plant and ANG Co. in Beulah, North Dakota, continuing as a Project Civil Engineer for the U.S. Dept. of Energy's Nuclear Waste Repository Study in Hanford, Washington and Yucca Mountain, Nevada. Until he retired from Stearns in 1986, Mr. Day worked on other projects with them. He finished his active career as a Consulting Engineer from 1986 to 1998, providing consulting services on earthwork, foundations and structures before finally retiring.

Career Accomplishments: Mr. Day served as Editor and Chairmen of the national Construction Division of the A.S.C.E. and was President of the Colorado Chapter in 1965. He served as President of the Professional Engineers of Colorado in 1971 and the Colorado Engineering Council in 1975.
